Specialized mengumumkan sepeda turbo listrik baru. Sepeda turbo listrik Specialized baru ini diklaim sebagai e-bike tercepat yang pernah dibuat. Kecepatan maksimum 45km/jam jadi tidak bisa dijual di Amerika dan di Inggris juga beberap negara Eropa lainnya karena dianggap ilegal, melanggar hukum karena terlau cepat, melebihi batas kecepatan sepeda yang diijinkan.

Specialized turbo ini akan dijual terbatas dengan harga 5.499 poundsterling. Menurut Bike Radar sepeda turbo listrik ini sudah tersedia saat ini setelah melalui proses pembangunan selama tiga tahun.

Sepeda Specialized ini dilengkapi dengan Specialized Turbo Direct 250 Watt yang diletakna di roda belakang, baterai 432Wh Lithium Ion diletakan di frame tengah bawah yang dapat di charge selama dua jam, dan wireless handlebar-mounted control unit untuk mengontrol lampu led depan dan belakang. Juga dilengkapi display baterai seperti yang ada di komputer sepeda biasanya.

Rem cakram ada di roda depan dan belakang, dan rangka sepeda dibuat dari alloy yang di kustom. 50 sepeda turbo listrik Specialized akan dikirimkan ke dealer Specialized terpilih di Eropa pada bulan ini untuk dicobakan.

* Under a 2004 European Directive, electric bikes are allowed a maximum assisted speed of 25km/h (15.6mph). However, some European nations have got around this by introducing a 'superbike' class of e-bike that slots in between bicycles and mopeds. For example, Germany’s ‘leichtmofa’ class includes electric bikes capable of assistance up to 45km/h (28mph) and with up to 500 watt motors. A licence and insurance is required but not a helmet and the bikes are not allowed on bike paths.
